We are very pleased to announce a great thing for British music and One Direction, because it has been announced that 1D and Adele lead global album sales.
Of course, Adele smashed it out of the park with 21. It has been one of the best sellers in the UK and has gone diamond in the USA, which is unheard of in today’s day and age.
One Direction had two of the best selling albums last year, with “Up All Night” and “Take Me Home” going number one in the same year.
Insiders say:
“We should be extremely proud of how our world-leading music industry continues to go from strength to strength.”
New bands such as Lawson, Union J, District 3 and The Vamps are also trying to make their mark on the UK boyband scene, and the source continued:
“British music is enjoyed across the world and we will keep backing our creative industries that support jobs, create opportunities and contribute to the economy.”
“Music is fundamental to Britain’s identity as a nation and the world is singing with us,”
They continued:
“As music goes digital, Britain has the potential to be even more successful, connecting instantly with fans who love our music wherever they may live. The time is right for government to back innovative businesses like music that can lead the economy back to growth.”
1D’s third album is out due out this November and is currently thought to be called ‘Where We Are’ – to fit in with next years massive stadium tour and their new book.
